How do I get to San Miguel?
San Miguel de Allende has two nearby international airports. The Aeropuerto del Bajio (airport code: BJX) is served by Continental Airlines, American Airlines, Aeromexico and Delta Airlines. The BJX airport is located 170 km (about 110 miles) from San Miguel, between the cities of Leon and Guanajuato, the state capital. The recently opened Aeropuerto Internacional de Queretaro (airport code: QRO) is about 70 km (40 miles) from San Miguel de Allende, is served by Continental Airlines and Aeromexico with once daily direct non-stop flights from Los Angeles (LAX) and Houston (HOU). A third option is the Benito Juarez Airport (airport code: MEX) in Mexico City, which is about 4 hours from San Miguel de Allende.

The Mexico City airport has a larger choice of flights and is served by a broad range international airlines from across the world. In general, flights to Mexico City are cheaper than flights to BJX or QRO, however flying into Leon or Queretaro is considered more convenient.

From these airports, we can arrange transportation for you in order to arrive to your rental house in San Miguel. From Leon and from Queretaro, the transfer fee will be between 70 and 120 usd (one way) depending on the size of the car you need. From Mexico city airport, the transfer fee will be between 200 and 300 usd (one way) depending on the size of the car you need.

San Miguel Info
San Miguel is the city of writers, poets, artists and dreamers, as well as the refined traveler. The many luxury hotels in San Miguel, the dining, the shopping, the art galleries and the tours of the surrounding hillsides could keep anyone busy for months. There are golf courses, stunning scenery for hikes, hot springs, horse back riding, museums, concerts, and for the festive, there is an annual flurry of fiestas and celebrations like the Expresión en Corto International Film Festival – the most prestigious in all of Latin America.

What is the Weather like?
San Miguel has a pleasant year-round spring-like climate. The average day is brisk in the morning, warm and sunny afternoons, and cool nights. At 6400 feet, both the humidity and the temperature is kept down and the air is clean and refreshing. Many tourists from North America come to San Miguel in the winter, where they can enjoy nice days in the 70s, instead of the snow and the cold. But the winter nights still afford time in front of the fireplaces in the many bars, cafes, and bistros in town, and most find a sweater still necessary when the sun goes down.
